On Christ Alone ~

CHRISTian poetry ~ by deborah ann

On Christ alone,
my mind is set,
so closer to Him,
my heart can get.

For He is the One,
who has saved me,
giving me the hope,
for what I can’t see.

In Christ alone,
my faith clings,
for by His grace,
salvation brings.

He is my Savior,
God’s eternal plan,
His love filled in,
the empty span.

On Christ alone,
my redemption lies,
my eyes He keeps . . ,
fixated on the prize!

Acts 4:12

Neither is there salvation
in any other: for there is none
other name under heaven
given among men,
whereby we must be saved.

House of Heart

I am always thinking of you.

At dusk you materialize

a thousand fireflies in a lush forest.

You interrupt my thoughts and there

is nothing I can do,

even Buddha has failed me.

I am out here in the dusk

where I might find you.

Spare a light that I may press it against

the sky or a falling star to coax you

where the tide bends the sea oats.

The dunes are washed away

like stacks of sponge cake.

Waves are black as sea lions

topped with froth.

When you are passing lift a glass,

a flicker of silvery starlight.

The Gettysburg and Harrisburg Train Depot, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

John Cowgill: Stories of the Railroad

The town of Gettysburg in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania is famous for the battle in the American Civil War. The town is also a famous railroad town where the railroad had a small role to play in the battle. President Abraham Lincoln arrived in this town to deliver his famous ‘Gettysburg Address’. Today, passenger trains no longer stop here, but the trains still come through town, and the old train station, commonly called the ‘Lincoln Train Station’, is now a museum. So much of the railroad history of Gettysburg is centered around the Lincoln Train Station, but years later, a second train station was built one block west of the Gettysburg Train Station.

Welcome to the Gettysburg and Harrisburg Train Depot. It is often overshadowed by the Lincoln Train Station as it was erected in April of 1884 long after the big war took place. Well, it did play…

A Fire In My Bones ~

CHRISTian poetry ~ by deborah ann

I feel my bones,
they are hot with fire
sparking me to raise
my voice even higher.

For the flame inside,
I can no longer contain
for I see a world filled
for God, with a disdain.

This fire is being fueled,
by rampant immorality
kindled by the flames
of gender based depravity.

For the torch was lit,
by progressive behavior
inflamed by their denial
of the need for a Savior.

I feel in my bones,
a fire burning hot
it’s like we’re living . . .
today in the land of Lot!

Jeremiah 20:9

Then I said, I will not make mention of him,
nor speak any more in his name.
But his word was in mine heart as a
burning fire shut up in my bones,
and I was weary with forbearing,
and I could not stay.

Gracious Gratitude ~

CHRISTian poetry ~ by deborah ann

Not just on Thanksgiving,
but every day of the year
give God your heartfelt praise
and it’ll bring your heart cheer.

For when we are thankful,
the entire year through
joy will flood our souls
spilling over in all we do.

Every minute of the day,
thank God for His grace
every second you’re alive
praise His holy face.

Give Him your thanksgiving,
with a heart that’s forthright
and in the eyes of the Lord
you’ll be a pleasing delight.

So, everyone let’s show God,
our gracious gratitude . . .
today and all year through
have a thankful attitude!

1 Thessalonians 5:18

“In every thing give thanks:
for this is the will of God
in Christ Jesus concerning you.”

God’s Goodness ~

CHRISTian poetry ~ by deborah ann

I am so thankful,
for God’s goodness
so blessed to know
His loving kindness.

Grateful and glad,
He is always forgiving
as with Him I travel
in the land of the living.

I am so thankful,
for God’s mercy and grace
so grateful He gives me
strength for the race.

Confident and sure,
I’ve nothing to fear
for God goes with me
and is always near.

I am so thankful,
for God’s goodness
I am so grateful
for His faithfulness!

Psalm 27.13

I had fainted, unless I had
believed to see
the goodness of the Lord
in the land of the living.

Cliff girl

House of Heart

My arms are albino snakes basking in the sun and the hot sand burns my feet. Water pearls glisten on my skin and a garland of abalone is tied to nothing but my  hand. Children’s laughter rings through coves where lovers await the rushing surf to tumble into the sun again with hearts that carry no burden but love.
