If we’re to edify others,
then why do we put them down
if they come to us with a smile
why do they leave with a frown?

If we’re to encourage others,
then why do we them beret
if they come to us with delight
why do we their joy deflate?

If we’re to uplift others,
then why do their bubbles we burst
if they come to us satisfied
why do they depart from us with thirst?

If we’re to motivate others,
then why do we make them sad
if they come to us elated
then why do they go off feeling bad?

If we’re to edify others,
with God we need to be at peace
so that with encouragement . . .
other’s hearts we may reach!
