Poems, Mostly

SEQUOIA

You were the forest king

The sun was your crown

You stood tall and mighty

So high above the ground

I looked up to you

I hoped you’d never die

When the fire destroyed you

I lay down and cried

There will be no other

With your strength and grace

I will grieve your absence

The remainder of my days
