At the end of the retreat I attended I had a day to rest and recover. This was much needed as I was still experiencing the Covid symptoms and felt quite fragile. As I sat back into one of the large sofas I felt very held and safe and was prompted to write the following poem.
Sofa Wisdom
There is an armchair holding you that’s cosy and forgiving
It nurtures the unfolding you, upholds the truth you’re living
You can lean in and rest your pins upon the sturdy structure
Feel the contact with your skin, be present, all’s not ruptured
You have a seat, so settle in
Stay with yourself, entwining
with that which brings you inner wealth
No harm in your reclining
Don’t be the old self-scalding you
What’s gone is for the sieving
There is an armchair holding you that’s cosy and forgiving
