Blessed are the poor in spirit,
those with no self-esteem
those who know for their sins
only Jesus can redeem.

For they know they’re nothing,
without God’s mercy and favor
they believe He sent His Son
to be their Lord and Savior.

Blessed are the poor in spirit,
those who rely on God’s grace
for their spiritual short-comings
they’re willing to fully embrace.

Blessed are those who know,
just how badly they’re wretched
those who know for their salvation
to Jesus are wholly indebted.

Blessed are the poor in spirit,
who to sin are no longer a victim . . .
for they know they can do nothing
to enter into God’s kingdom!
