Hearses don’t pull trailers,
filled with earthly treasures
they don’t tow your assets
or your worldly pleasures.
They don’t carry the living,
with their prized possessions
they only bring along coffins
to the grave side processions.
You can’t take it with you,
all you’ve got will turn to rust
what you adore and cherish
will be left behind in the dust.
You can’t haul away your stuff,
there’s no place in heaven for it
one day all you own and love
you will be forced to forfeit.
There is no trailer hitch,
attached to that black hearse
all your valuables down here
others one day will disperse.
You can’t take it with you,
so you might as well let it go
for where your heart is . . .
to the world it will show!
