One day last week I went out to stretch my legs as I like to do and was struck by the very wispy, vocative snow that was falling. In years gone by this weather would have given me a feeling of cabin fever and yet on this day it made me feel poetic and grateful!
Gentle Flurry
The snow shed down like sleepy dust upon the forest crown
Could hear the hungry birds discuss their plans in urgent sounds
The wafer sheets of sugared sleet clung to the paths like wishes
Descending slowly, winter’s beat brought feelings soft-delicious
Old movie tracks brought memories back nostalgic and evoking
This winter weather has the knack for dreamy chilled soul-stroking
In former years the cold I’d cussed, its virtues I’d now found
as snow shed down like sleepy dust upon the forest crown
