It was a dark, wintery day yesterday and I felt quite introspective on my afternoon walk. Some grief feelings surfaced and felt welcome to have a bit of space out in nature on this chilly day. They didn’t hang around for long, reminding me that e-motions really are energy in motion. When we let them pass through us we keep moving on as we’re meant to.
Bare Forest
There is a starkness in the woods
framed by the frosted peaks
Out here my soul feels understood
In solitude, grief speaks
There is a chilly resonance
Permitting me to miss
In nature truth is resident
In sorrow there are gifts
There is a solemn, deep respect
The broken stumps agree
My heart desires to introspect
and process peacefully
You were the one who understood
and knew, you were unique
There is a starkness in the woods
framed by the frosted peaks
