Where Credit’s Due

Peacock Poetry

Self-deprecation is a big part of British irony and humour. And you do have to be able to laugh at yourself in this life for goodness sake! By the same token though we do also need to graciously receive the good words that come our way and to receive credit where credit’s due do we not?

Praiseworthy

Receive the compliment

And don’t self-deprecate

It was not God’s intent

For you to understate

So feel the words and own it

Accept the praise with grace

You’ve done so we’ll so show it

Let joy gleam through your face

When reverence has been sent

Don’t rush ahead, but wait

Receive the compliment

Say thanks and celebrate
