Thoughts come and go and many of them are not really that helpful. The more we can observe this process and not get overly attached to our thoughts, the more they evolve naturally into more helpful ones. Today’s poem is about staying with the light and allowing thoughts to pass.
Kinder Calling
We are not are thoughts
We’re not our monkey minds
The mental battles fought
To ourselves we’re unkind
We are not our failings
Though we may oft berate
Our inner critics waling
They love our fragile states!
The light that’s in our eyes
The one our loved ones see
Speaks a truth more wise
Than any thought could be
So let us watch our thoughts
Observe our monkey minds
Without becoming caught
Let’s leave self-grief behind
