The Whole Lot

Peacock Poetry

We often push away the parts of ourselves that we don’t like and can’t be with. Although this might temporarily help us to evade them, they come back to bite us because they want our attention! If we can learn to accept the raw and vulnerable bits of ourselves, or at least be a bit more gentle towards them, we begin the long road to self-acceptance.

Self-Acceptance

Love me when I’m raw

Without my shell, exposed

Help the numb to thaw

Help acceptance grow

Guard me from the wilderness

That is The Doubt’s creation

All I need is tenderness

And not self-limitation

Take the light and shade in me

And cherish its confusion

Let the love parade in me

Seep in past the obtusion

I need now to be sure

Conditions aren’t imposed

Love me when I’m raw

Without my shell, exposed
