Filled by the Hills

Peacock Poetry

This morning I had a lovely mindful walk in the hills and felt filled with a sense of gratitude for space and freedom. The cooler weather is ideal for venturing out into nature and the great outdoors always brings a sense of patience and appreciation.

When both my eyes are wide awake

on mornings when I’m hiking

The contours – like a layered cake

The depth portrayed is striking

The round trees set like pirouettes

against the shredded golden

The silt-streaked sky begins to let

A glimpse of sun ray bolden

There’s damp moss scent, I breathe and vent

kaleidoscope of feelings

This precious piece of time has leant

more room for needed healing

I sometimes walk for walking’s sake

I love my morning hiking

For when both eyes are wide awake

My gratitude starts spiking
