Since losing my Dad, I have become all the more in awe of birds. My favourite varieties are robins, seagulls and peacocks as they represent compassion, liberty and self-expression to me. Dad used to love watching the birds in his garden and really admired birds of prey in particular. Each time I walk alone and really hear what nature has to say, the birds seem to impart melodic words of wisdom.

Nature and Nurture

The morning sun is in my eyes

I have no urge to hasten

In treetops birds coo “Be surprised

and never be complacent!

For miracles occur each day

Within the blooming meadows

Switch off distractions in your way

Observe us air-bound fellows!

We’ve seen it all, the problems small

when viewed from where we’re perching

You want more yet you have it all

Just need to stop the searching”
