Today’s write is about the part in each of us that doesn’t really want to grow up. I have embodied these traits into a fictional character who, the truth be told, I am sure that most of us can relate to on some level!

The Middle-Aged Hedonist

They call her the middle-aged hedonist

A Peter Pan soul and a lush

A vino-or-three style expressionist

The thrill of the chase is her rush

Once wed she is now

double-barrelled

Monogamy not to her taste

She shrugs off the looks and the scowls

Their jealousy all in bad taste

For she the old middle-aged hedonist

With highlights and gel nails galore

Flys high though she cannot fit in to this

sequential imposed life for bores

She’s drunk on her dreams and her readiness

She spends like a tycoon who’s flush

They call her the middle-aged hedonist
