Peacock Poetry

We recently did a lovely, lazy hike in the Jura area which took us through rolling countryside and horse folk heaven! The weather was gorgeous and, as with every good hike, we pitched up at a stunning spot to eat our lunch. The Étang de la Gruère was so tranquil and dreamy that it would have been possible to spend all day there writing poetry I swear!

Tranquil Trek

Through equine land our hike began

Pine cones and farmyard flavours

Beneath us snow and soft marshland

This day was one to savour

Leaves lined the sky like butterflies

that fluttered in mild wind

Some special time for you and I

The sun with fullness brimmed

At lunch two ducks would try their luck

We shared our morsels gladly

The chaffinch didn’t pilfer much

I needed this day badly
