Say Cheese!

Peacock Poetry

Today the prompt is to think about the argot of a particular job or profession, and to see how we can incorporate this into a metaphor that governs or drives our poem. I decided to write about the amateur photographer as I enjoyed learning a few slang words appertaining to a career that I know nothing about. (Key slang terms explained below!)

Snappy Chappy

(You have to start somewhere!)

He has a damn good try

His shots look worse for wear!

An Uncle Bob style guy

(His bottle top suffices!)

How can he meet your eye

and charge those blinkin’ prices?!

Content to spray and pray

(It’s all by chance, no skill)

He snaps away the day

And photographs at will

So proud to be home-made

Could teach a thing or two

Chimping-style parade

When his day stint is through

He could be you or I

Professional? (who cares?!)
