Day four has arrived and it is my birthday to boot! We are challenged to write a sad poem using simple language. Here is today’s offering inspired by the snowy start. Thankfully Andy has covered up our Spring plants until the snow passes and the bleakness evoked is more to be on prompt than anything else!
Bleak Birthday
Thrown back into the winter
On this, my special day
Bring back the Springtime sinter
Gold warmth, not this white-grey!
Think of the little lupins
Give crocuses a chance
May not their leaves be dropping
Revive our trees and plants!
Surely we’ve done our stint now?
We’ve more than paid our dues!
I’m wilting, need the glint now
Of April’s shiny shoes
Cruel flashback you won’t hinder
The zenith with your grey
Thrown back into the winter
On this, my special day
