I Still Wish.

Ann Oblivion Blog

I still wish
our wounds were common
and pains shared.

Exquisite or toxic –
I wish we both breathed in
the same air.

If our desires were sharp
I wish it slayed us both.
And if they were miraculous
I wish it wooed us both.

I still wish that old Oak tree
existed by the river side.
And we sat under the tree
through dusk
holding the skins of each other.

We both would know
that the river would rise
and it would sweep us away.

It is so foolish of me
but I still wish –
Yesterday was just a nightmare
that drifted us apart
and today is all that we have got.
