WAITING FOR A TRAIN TO RUN

By the Mighty Mumford

Sitting outside in breeze,

Conducting traffic through trees…

Airplane sounds

Vibrate grounds,

Yet comforting are these!

Bedroom window’s  within ear-shot,

Distance, hears trucks shift a lot…

Closed window, shades,

Little dent made,

Climbing hills trucks get hot.

Listening when awake,

Three-alarm fires–piece of cake…

Two blocks down

Heard not a sound,

Down-shifting trucks good training make!

Saw trains on those tracks one day,

Maybe twice–which I think okay…

Looking for a train

That may not run again,

Traffic sounds are all there are today!
